Well… It’s finally over… YouTube has apparently doubled their monetization requirements, according to chatter on X. You thought 4000 watch hours was already out of reach, try 8000…
I remember over 100 years ago, I started my gaming channel and actually made a whole $0.97. I was so happy just starting to make pennies, but that was right before they added the 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours requirements, effectively axing my ability to make future income, but still showing ads on all the videos, just thieving, but I still tried to hit those impossible numbers and eventually just kind of gave up.
Now new creators have to contend with 8000!? At this point you are better off making your own website and getting adsense approved there because its content based, which is what I’ve been doing on this site, but it makes no sense why the requirements are so strict on YouTube and not other websites of which some are of the very sketchy nature, considering it’s all Google owned anyway.
Anyways, share your thoughts, because this is a hefty blow to creators…
