I’m going to start by saying this post will probably be my longest yet as I have a lot on my mind to say. I’m fairly new to blogging as I just started 3 weeks ago for no real reason. The goal was to make a website that I could sell my instrumental music on. Which I did, you are currently reading this post on it right now, but reading some of IGN’s articles I swear some of them were only one sentence and I was like I can do that, probably even better than them.
So, I tried with my first blog post *cough* article, The Absolute Horror of Genshin Impact’s Grind, which came about because I was frustrated with playing the game at the time. Then after writing a few more, I was like oh this feels better if not easier than talking in youtube videos.
I’ve been on youtube since 2015, well actually a few years before then, but those videos will never see the light of day again. Back in 2015, I started my first gaming channel. Most are non commentary videos and I’ve tried occasionally to talk in them. If I’m playing with other people it’s easier to talk, but if I’m playing by myself it’s tough.
Various youtube videos and reddit posts claimed it would get easier, they lied… Unless I actually wrote a script for the video like my The Sinister Truth – Tower of Fantasy or Mohg, Lord of Blood – Elden Ring (3HK/Infinite Health Series) which was actually a mix of script and in the moment gameplay.
The in the moment part is what’s tough, especially alone. I legit haven’t even uploaded a video I spoke in for almost a year now. That doesn’t mean I’m never going to speak again, just only probably if I feel it’s necessary. I like making videos like most people, even if it’s only just basic cuts of my gameplay.
Everyone on videos and posts you’ve been looking for is lying to you, but I’m going to tell you the stone cold truth. Do what you want my friend, if you like playing games and making videos just do it the way you want. Want to show your Seele in Honkai: Star Rail doing 70K damage or something and don’t want to speak, then go for it, you always can answer questions in the comment section, it’s what it was built for.
The reason I think blogging is easier than speaking in videos after only 3 weeks, because for us introverted people we just can take all the time in the world to write a post versus trying to say something in the moment of a gameplay video to fill dead air. Write a post for every video if you want, at least people will have something they can read in a minute or two, to get context. Just throwing out ideas.
I’ve always liked writing stories and such script wise. Hence why there is a book section on this website also. So I guess blogging started to hit home for me. I’m going to try and stay with it as I say with most new things I try, but we’ll see how it goes.
