Sometimes, due to the nature of my work, I end up having a stupid amount of free time, which led to me trying to find ways to fill said time.
Enter Pokémon FireRed Version.
The only Pokémon game in the Game Boy generation I’ve ever played, as a young lad, was Pokémon Sapphire Version, which I played on a Game Boy Micro, who remembers those right? It took me years to beat Sapphire and in the end made Kyogre become my favorite Pokémon of all time, even to this day.
So, I started up FireRed and with this newfound emulator technology, popped in a cheat code and gave myself infinite money. What can I say? I like things to be easy. I don’t know who said people needed to be challenged, but they lied. I started playing it as a recommendation from a friend who is also a souls maniac. He’s lucky infinite money was all I used, because I admit the other cheats were tempting.
The only thing I really hate about games like these are the random encounters. I found myself using Repel non-stop, because I couldn’t take the starting and stopping so much even while playing the game at 2X speed. It reminded me of the original Final Fantasy VII, which I played a few months back, but turned off the random encounters, I was also using cheats in that game like mad as well.
Anyway, basically only using Charizard and Electrode and having to look up various sections, the playthrough was smooth sailing. I was a tad concerned during the Elite Four, but managed to pull through and beat the League 28 hours in.
Thus I deemed the game a certified time waster! Why? Would I have played in the comfort of my home? Absolutely not! Thus it has been spoken…
