Samurai Shodown was another fighting game I got during Steam’s Winter Sale along with Street Fighter 6.
I was like why not? Seems cool and all the DLC characters were released, so I got everything for $20.
After playing through the tutorial and noticing the complexity of the fighting mechanics, which I basically ignored because I can’t press all those buttons, I started playing with Shiki through the Story mode and it was smooth sailing until I got all the way to the Final Boss, Shizuka and literally could not beat her!
She is severely overpowered. She has so much health and does so much damage, I’m just sitting there like what on Earth happened…
You have to beat her to get the character’s ending, but you literally can’t and I can’t even imagine playing against her with all the characters…
I decided to give it another shot a few days later though with Hibiki Takane and while still struggling, actually beat Shizuka this time.
Story mode is also nine battles long, but thank goodness it’s similar to Street Fighter 6 in that you can adjust the difficulty and rounds, but it’s still a tad long for my tastes.
