NieR: Automata is a MASTERPIECE

NieR: Automata
9S & A2 – NieR: Automata (May 10, 2025)

I’ve done it, I’ve finally truly finished the masterpiece known as NieR: Automata.

Technically, it was already a masterpiece in my eyes though, when I originally played the game years ago, but recently playing through the other routes, I just found out existed by the way, honestly reconfirmed it!

PlatinumGames definitely went all out, with the story, characters, gameplay, and my goodness the music. It’s the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard in my life, has been for years, and no one and I mean no one has topped this soundtrack, though Hiroyuki Sawano is definitely trying. It’s so hard to pick a favorite song because I love so many of them, but if I had to it’d be Copied City.

A2 – NieR: Automata (May 10, 2025)

Speaking of favorites, my favorite character is of course the one and only Goddess 2B, I’m sure you already knew that, but A2, once again my goodness.

My favorite weapons were Virtuous Contract and Virtuous Treaty and Pod Programs, R020: Mirage and R040: Blade.

Now with the great things being said, there are some issues…

NieR: Automata
9S – NieR: Automata (May 10, 2025)

First off, the multiple route thing was so stupid, especially 9S’s Route B. I can see why so many people probably dropped off here, assuming they even knew it existed. The hacking was also so stupid, but transitioning to the 8-Bit soundtrack was amazing. I was playing on easy and using auto chips because I was honestly through, nothing is added to the story and it’s almost near identical to Route A until the very end, to which those hacking parts were actually great then because they were meaningful to the story.

Another issue I had was always having to pick up stuff, I’ll never understand why games do this, but guess what near the end of the route the Maintenance Shop Owner starting selling a new Plug-in Chip called Auto-collect Items, problem solved just before Route C. Now if that wasn’t the stupidest thing in the entirety of NieR: Automata I don’t know what is… Absolutely ridiculous, that means the developers know players hated doing it…

A2 – NieR: Automata (May 10, 2025)

So, with Route B, being effectively meaningless, Route C, was absolutely amazing, from beginning to end just like Route A, masterpiece, that Operator 21O fight and everything in that tower was absolutely wild, this game would be a 10/10, but I just can’t forgive, Route B, it was unnecessary and they could have easily added those parts in Route A, with that being said I still consider NieR: Automata to be a masterpiece, but it’s 9/10. Probably an 8/10…
