Episode: Unforgotten Echoes is just a DLC character showcase – Tekken 8

As always, where in the world have I been? Tekken 8 has released a new FREE story expansion, Episode: Unforgotten Echoes and I just found out about it, while starting up the game again after months.

I don’t know if I was just ignoring everything Tekken related after I retired at the end of my last ranked run with Zafina, dealing with my feelings as the Tekken Shop opened, which I was highly against, but I’m going step away from that for a second as a slew of even more sinister issues have surfaced.

Beginning, Episode: Unforgotten Echoes, I couldn’t help, but notice I started the story with Eddy Gordo, the first DLC character of Tekken 8, which is an issue of itself, but once again I’ma step away. While I was playing, I was like oh snap, we got flashbacks, this story actually might be something, but it started to feel like a Character Episode, instead of the main story, if you know what I mean.

My eyebrows started to raise when Lidia Sobieska, the second DLC character, which is yet another issue of itself, but yet again I’ma step away, appeared. As I continued playing, I started shaking my head like this is just a DLC character showcase, so players who haven’t bought the characters can try them out.

Then I was saying to myself if Heihachi Mishima, the third DLC character, who is supposed to be dead by the way, appears I’ma flip out. Guess what he does, right at the end of Lidia’s arc, back from the dead! During this part of the story, I honestly wasn’t mad at it though, because after five chapters in, it felt like the real story was actually starting and despite Heihachi’s magical comeback the storyline was somewhat good, especially near the end, like you really felt like and became the final arcade boss which was awesome.

With that being said though, I can’t help, but feel like this was a rushed put together story expansion in an effort to increase DLC sales from players who already spent $70 on the game, among countless other new monetization tactics also plaguing Tekken 8 that weren’t in the original release.
