I remember when I was a kid, during the summer, packing up my PS2 slim, headed to my Grandmother’s house, with the rest of my cousins, with a copy of NFL Street 2, Budokai 3, and Budokai Tenkaichi 1 & 2, just so I could beat everyone, Uncles included, in the latter.

When Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was first announced, I, like many others, was excited. No modern Dragon Ball game, other than FighterZ, even comes close to the popularity of those PS2 era games. Many would just say it’s nostalgia, but the truth is that those games were just great.

I wish they’d just keep this stuff a secret. Like no one knew Mortal Kombat 1 was coming until 4 months before release. To be honest 4 months is also long, but compared to The Elder Scrolls VI or even worse Cyberpunk 2077 it’s nothing. Developers try to ride hype for months or years and it may work for the short term, but it hardly ever works long term.

I hope we hear more about Budokai Tenkaichi 4 soon, like maybe they do a surprise winter release or something.
