I wrote an article about Black Myth: Wukong back in August saying good things about the game and how it has one of the greatest openings I ever seen, which is still true, but now it’s time to air my grievances.
Chapter One of the game was absolutely great, despite my various struggles and with about 10 hours into the game, I headed into Chapter Two and just couldn’t bring myself to play the game anymore.
I was to mentally exhausted from the difficulty…
Add the fact there is no map, you constantly get lost, and sometimes you’ll die, backtrack all the way to the previous point, and have to fight your way back to where you were and it literally just becomes so exhausting.
I started up Black Myth: Wukong, to see if my thoughts were still the same while writing this article, I found the boss Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw and beat him on the second try, but to get to the next boss, Earth Wolf, it’s an army of minions doing a ridiculous amount of damage, even with max health, so I just ran past them and was able to beat Earth Wolf and guess what happened then, lost once again.
Those bosses were not hard in the grand scheme of things compared to Chapter One, but by this point you are completely burnt out, you just lose the will to explore, to continue…
I don’t know if it’s just me, but fighting respawning countless minions for hours gets so old so fast.
Various sources say there are six chapters in the game, I can’t even imagine the amount of struggle needed to complete said chapters…
Well it’s a souls-like, they say, after my Elden Ring adventures and now Black Myth: Wukong, I can finally say, I don’t think they are meant for me…
