An investigation into the SINISTER mystery surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI’s delay

Grand Theft Auto VI
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025)

Rockstar has seen nothing, but trouble and drama over the years surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI from the biggest leak in history in 2022, which led to multiple arrests, and yet another leak, this time internally, forcing the first trailer to be released just hours later near the end of 2023, nothing but silence for the entirety of 2024, and now in 2025 the game’s release was right around the corner, but alas it was pushed back an entire year to May 26, 2026 I guess to line the numbers up for a triple 6.

Revealed on X on May 2nd, with a cut and paste statement from their PR Team using ChatGPT, there was no real reason for the delay… Fans were severely outraged to put it lightly.

Then just a measly four days later, they dropped a second official trailer out of nowhere. Now why this trailer is definitely showing off a never before seen graphical update, probably pushing current hardware to the absolute maximum, becoming YouTube’s most watched video in the span of 24 hours, have fans instantly changing their tune, but not me as I can’t help but notice my original excitement has waned as this trailer seems to be actually a far worst representation than the first and way more sexual now, it’s almost as if they are worried and to combat the recent backlash they spent those four days stitching it together last minute, but at least we got a small snippet of the “expansive” story right?

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.” – Rockstar (May 6, 2025)

Now with dissecting all this drama, there is even something more sinister surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI’s random delay. It’s no secret, but the price of video games have been skyrocketing, games just went up to $70 not too long ago, but with Nintendo charging $80 and even $90 for Mario Kart World and Xbox randomly following suit this week, because they are trying to prevent a bankruptcy we all see on the horizon, with all the flops game developers have been making the past few years, and with rumors about Grand Theft Auto VI being 100 big ones even before all of that, they pushed the game back in a attempt to give people “room to breathe and accept the new costs” like these studios have absolutely lost their minds, be ready to break back out the PlayStation 2’s because an online gaming crash the likes of never seen before will annihilate the industry.

And with the current state of the gaming industry, which gets worse by the day, and Rockstar’s seemingly random move, I wouldn’t be surprised if the PlayStation 6 or the Xbox Microwave Edition comes out before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI pushing prices probably even higher than $100…

When Grand Theft Auto VI launches, it will have been 13 years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, which is a whole nother issue in and of itself. I was originally joking about Grand Theft Auto VII being 20 years out, yeah definitely doesn’t seem like a joke now…
