Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick secures 2nd term, E-SPLOST approved

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (Ghost Studios) – Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick secures 2nd term with an overwhelming 79.23% of the vote, defeating Fabian Velazquez who had 20.77% of the total 12,013 votes, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Unofficial Results.

According to the City of Warner Robins, Patrick became the 16th mayor of Warner Robins and made history as the first elected female mayor, first African-American mayor and the first minority mayor in the city’s history.

City Council Posts 1, 3, and 5, Derek Mack, Keith Lauritsen, Clifford Holmes, Jr., respectively, ran uncontested also re-securing their seats, with Mayor Patrick giving them her congratulations on her Facebook Page earlier in the day.

E-SPLOST (Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) which is a one-cent sales tax was also on the ballot and was approved by voters with 77.04% of the total 26,080 votes.

According to Houston County School District, the E-SPLOST will be used to improve safety and security, facilities, technology and transportation, creating better learning environments. This E-SPLOST will last for five years, from April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2032, or until a cap of $275 million is reached.
