I’ve finally completed the entire Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising story mode and I have some thoughts…
82 official Episodes, but with the side episodes that pushes it to over 100! Most of these are visual novel style cutscenes and the actual animated cutscenes are very few and far between.
My biggest gripe with this, is the fact the battles are not just the one versus one style that the actual core game is… Story mode turns into side scrolling nonsense, don’t get me wrong, certain parts were interesting and they went all in on the boss battles and the music, but literally the story can be cut in half.

It got so bad that, I literally found out you can have the CPU play for you in Character Settings – Controls – CPU (Auto), though sometimes you will have to manually play as they may not hit all the challenges.
I can’t even imagine people trying to play hard mode in this nonsense.
Arcade mode actually kills me too, because for some reason you have to play twice to get both character ending illustrations, which is actually some good artwork, once regularly and once by ending with your ultimate on all the matches. I checked to see if it would just give both illustrations with one playthrough on the ultimate route, yeahhh it doesn’t… But thank goodness you can set the rounds to one to make things go quicker, but it still feels so long! Why can’t Arcade mode just be three matches, why draggg it out?
Other than that, the actual CORE game, the TRUE fighting game is great!
