Forspoken

Official Release: January 24, 2023

Forspoken
Frey (Awakening) VS. Cuff – Forspoken (June 22, 2024)

I’ve played through the entirety of Forspoken, including the DLC.

Despite me doing that, the game was just awful, the map was way too big, it took literally forever to get anywhere, despite you running with magic, which is absolutely insane to me and that’s not including the performance issues like the map itself taking forever to load. Not the map, but the menu the map is in…

Forspoken felt like it should have ended after the first hour but it just kept going and going and things that actually made the game good were all packed into like the last 30 minutes, they honestly should have started the game that way. Absolutely unforgivable…

Best Music

Tekken 8

Official Release: January 26, 2024

Tekken 8
Chapter 1: Evil Stars Collide – Tekken 8 (January 27, 2024)

Tekken 8 was one of the best fighting games this year!

But… There was something even better about it, the Jukebox Mode, but even though the game had all the music from every Tekken game in existence, Tekken 8’s original music alone was absolutely great. My favorite original song from the game still to this day is Kakuri-yo Kagura – Normal by Yuu Miyake.

Best Gacha Game

Wuthering Waves

Official Release: May 22, 2024

Wuthering Waves
Rover – Wuthering Waves (May 28, 2024)

No one expected Wuthering Waves to be as good as it was, the appeal of female Rover was something simply unheard of in gacha games, all the characters just looked so good and the story was great.

The summoning monster mechanic in place of gear slots was literally a welcomed game changer.

Most Wanted

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls

Official Release: 2025

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls
BLEACH Rebirth of Souls – Reawakening Trailer (September 26, 2024)

Bandai must be getting tired of losing money because BLEACH Rebirth of Souls marketing tactics have been absolutely insane. We have been seeing nothing but straight gameplay and literally no one is saying anything bad about the game.

The fighting style along with its in depth story mode seems like it’s about to be one the biggest releases of 2025 and on the route to becoming the greatest Bleach game in history.

Game of the Year (Top 3 Contenders)

#3: Detroit: Become Human

Official Release: May 25, 2018

Detroit: Become Human
Connor & Emma – Detroit: Become Human (March 1, 2024)

You are faced with many choices playing as the Androids in Detroit: Become Human and most lead to very tricky situations, but you had no choice, walls the humans made had to be broken…

#2: Tekken 8

Official Release: January 26, 2024

Tekken 8
Reina – Chapter 10: All-Out Assault – Tekken 8 (February 2, 2024)

As I mentioned earlier, Tekken 8 was no doubt one of the best fighting games this year!

The story mode was miles better than Tekken 7 and we also had the return of Mother Jun.

While I wholeheartedly disagree with the monetization tactics added after the fact, seeing many of us bought the $100+ edition of the game, the fact remains Tekken 8 is a solid addition to the franchise.

#1: DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO

Official Release: October 11, 2024

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO
Goku (Z – Mid) (Super Saiyan) – DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO (October 28, 2024)

Years… Literally years… Decades… The King of Games finally returned…

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, the game was so great, so over the top, it was honestly no contest. No other game this year even came close to the masterpiece that this became.

I’ve written many, many, articles over this game, so there was no other choice, but to crown DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO as Ghost Studios: Game of the Year!

Winners

Forspoken – Worst Game of the Year
Tekken 8 – Best Music
Wuthering Waves – Best Gacha Game
