In just four days, one of what seems to be the biggest Chinese video game since Black Myth: Wukong which no one thought was real, will launch as free to play, no less. Named, Where Winds Meet, it’s finally making its way to the West almost a year after launching in China.
It’s insane to see a game of this caliber also launching as free to play as just three weeks ago an in depth gameplay trailer was released, showing off what seems to be endless features which shocked many in the gaming community as some games these days are charging $90 big ones for way less.
With over 10 million pre-registrations reported just hours ago on X and mechanically on par with other Eastern games such as the likes of Korea’s upcoming Crimson Desert and Japan’s Yakuza or Like a Dragon Series, it seems games of this nature have taken the market by storm in recent years and for good reason.

“Where Winds Meet is an epic open-world action-adventure RPG rooted in the rich legacy of Wuxia,” said Everstone Studios. “Set during the turbulent era of tenth-century China, you take on the role of a young sword master, uncovering forgotten truths and the mysteries of your own identity. As the wind stirs across mountains and rivers, so too will your legend rise.”
Now we all just have to find out if the hype is actually worth it as the game is shaping up to be the biggest launch of the week.
Where Winds Meet launches Friday, November 14, 2025.
